A closer look at OFT’s pilot plant

OFT’s technology has been developed over a number of years in an interplay between computer simulations and real-life experiments that have been gradually scaled-up in size.

A laboratory scale microwave setup was followed by a small pilot plant and subsequently by the construction of the OFT100 pilot plant, located north of Aarhus, Denmark.

The OFT100 pilot plant consists of a 10 kW microwave reactor system, hereafter an infeed system, two condensers to take out oil, a gas burner and a container for collection of char.

The pilot plant operates continuously with up to 40 kg infeed of biomass per hour. Organic Fuel Technology has carried out more than 120 test runs on the pilot plant.
